Dallas Pest Control answers pest calls 24/7 for southwest Dallas and the cities around it: Oak Cliff, Redbird, Wynnewood, Duncanville, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster and Grand Prairie, plus edges of Ellis and Tarrant counties. A local technician handles termites, fire ants, mosquitoes, scorpions, roof rats and roaches, with a price you approve first.
Down here the ground sets the pest schedule. Blackland clay shrinks and splits open in August, then swells and floods yards in May. Those cracks open slab and pier gaps for termites, soaked soil pushes fire ants up into fresh mounds, and the heat sends scorpions and American roaches looking for a cool bathroom floor.
Houses vary as much as the bugs. Winnetka Heights has 1910s bungalows on piers, Wynnewood and Kiestwood have postwar brick ranches, and Duncanville, DeSoto and Cedar Hill are mostly slab subdivisions. The line is answered 24/7, holidays too. Most calls get a same-day visit when a technician is free, and if the soonest slot is tomorrow morning, you hear that up front.
Each visit goes to the nearest available technician, so a call from Redbird or DeSoto isn't stuck waiting on a long drive across the river and through downtown traffic.
You get the cost and what it covers before any product is mixed. If more turns up, such as mud tubes on a second wall, that piece is priced on its own and you decide.
Every visit ends with a written service report: what was found, what was applied and where. Home buyers, landlords and the next technician all get use out of it.
Termite checks ahead of the spring swarms, fire ant bait while the ants are out foraging, mosquito visits worked around the storm pattern. Treatment follows the season, not a fixed script.
A 1920s Kessler Tudor over a crawlspace and a newer slab home in Cedar Hill need different termite plans. The technician explains which one fits the house in front of them.
Say what you're seeing, which room or corner of the yard, and how long it has been going on. That is usually enough for a ballpark range during the call.
The local technician assigned to your address phones to agree on a window. If you didn't ask on the first call, this is a good moment to request the business's TDA license number.
On site, the technician checks the slab edge, crawlspace, attic or lawn, explains what's going on and names a price. Nothing goes down until you approve it.
Products are applied by their labels, pet and family precautions are spelled out, and you keep a written report of what was found and treated.
Termites, fire ants, mosquitoes and scorpions lead the calls. Subterranean termites swarm on warm days from late February into May, fire ant mounds rise after each soaking rain, mosquitoes breed along the Trinity bottoms and creeks from spring into fall, and striped bark scorpions push indoors in hot, dry spells. Roof rats, roaches and crickets follow.
The mix shifts block by block. Wooded lots along the Cedar Hill escarpment see more scorpions and recluse spiders, older Oak Cliff houses on piers see more termites and rodents, and yards near Fivemile, Tenmile and Mountain Creek fight mosquitoes deeper into fall. Here is what each one usually looks like:
Dallas sits on Blackland Prairie clay that shrinks and cracks in summer drought and swells after rain. Those cracks open hidden routes under slabs and along foundations for termites, roaches and crickets, while a heavy storm floods ant tunnels and sends fire ants up into new mounds within a day or two.
Houston Black clay, the Texas state soil, moves more than most ground, and it moves the house along with it. Slabs crack, pier-and-beam supports shift, and plumbing penetrations that were tight last year open up. A termite check after a dry summer or after foundation repair is time well spent. The table shows a typical year; a wet spring or a long run of 100-degree days moves it around.
| Months | What's usually active | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Dec–Feb | Mice, rats and German roaches indoors; the odd hard freeze or ice storm | Kitchen cabinets, attic insulation, garage door seals |
| Late Feb–May | Subterranean termite swarms, fire ant mounds after storms, new wasp nests | Window sills for shed wings, lawns after rain, eaves and playsets |
| Late Apr–Jun | Formosan swarms at dusk where present, mosquitoes climbing, fleas and ticks | Porch lights at dusk, standing water, pet bedding |
| Jun–Sep | Scorpions and American roaches indoors, peak mosquito and West Nile season | Bathtubs, landscape rock, floor drains, gutters |
| Late Aug–Nov | Crickets at lights, a second fire ant round, rodents with the first cold fronts | Foundation edges, garage corners, roofline gaps |
Ask for the company's Texas Department of Agriculture structural pest control business license number, a written price and the name of the product going down. Texas licenses both pest control businesses and the people who apply pesticides, so any company, this one included, should answer those questions without hesitation.
The TDA's Structural Pest Control Service keeps the license records, so a number can be looked up before anyone starts. It is also fair to ask which precautions apply to kids and pets, how long to stay off a treated lawn, and whether a follow-up visit is part of the price.
A one-time general pest treatment typically runs $165–$325, and a quarterly plan costs $95–$160 per visit after a $150–$275 first service. Termite work, attic rodent jobs and bed bugs cost more. These are 2026 estimates for Dallas County; the technician confirms the exact price on site, and you approve it before treatment.
Two-story houses, big wooded lots in Cedar Hill and Ovilla, older pier-and-beam homes and heavy landscaping push totals up. The full price list and the Dallas pest control cost guide walk through each range.

A one-time inside-and-outside pest treatment in southwest Dallas typically runs $165–$325.
No. Dallas Pest Control is a private pest control service, not a City of Dallas or Dallas County department or program. Public mosquito spraying after West Nile-positive traps is run by the city and county. A visit booked here covers your own house, yard or business, at a price you approve first.
Most calls are scheduled the same day when a technician is free, and Redbird sits at the center of the service area with Duncanville next door. A late-night call or a stormy spring week may roll to the next morning. If it can't wait, like yellowjackets at the back door, say so on the call.
It's worth taking seriously. Dallas County Health and Human Services traps and tests mosquitoes from about April to mid-November, and it confirmed the county's first 2026 human case on August 11. Dump standing water weekly and wear repellent at dusk. The West Nile guide covers the rest.
The striped bark scorpion, the most common scorpion in Texas, gives a painful sting, but Texas scorpions aren't considered life-threatening to healthy adults. Get medical care right away for any sign of an allergic reaction, and call a doctor about stings on small children or older adults.
Outside work often can be done that way, such as a perimeter treatment, fire ant bait or a mosquito visit, as long as gates are unlocked and dogs are inside. The first visit goes better with someone home to walk the house and approve the price, and inside work needs an adult there.
Seal a few termite swarmers or a dead scorpion in a sandwich bag, and take photos of mud tubes, droppings or mound spots. Note the room and time of day you see activity. Skip store sprays right before the visit; they scatter pests and hide where they were traveling.
